This blog will guide you through the new HEC Degree Attestation System (DAS), which makes the entire process more streamlined and efficient. From registration to submitting your documents, we’ll cover all the essential steps to complete your HEC Pakistan degree verification quickly and easily.
What is HEC Pakistan Degree Verification?
HEC Pakistan Degree Verification is the process by which the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan authenticates academic degrees issued by recognized Pakistani universities. The purpose of this verification is to confirm that the degrees are legitimate and that the details provided are accurate, which helps students and professionals gain recognition for their qualifications worldwide.
Why Should You Get Your Degree Verified by HEC?
- Global Recognition: Verified degrees are accepted internationally, which is crucial for academic and career opportunities abroad.
- Employment: Many employers require verified degrees to confirm the authenticity of a candidate’s qualifications.
- Higher Education: Foreign universities often demand HEC verification for admission and scholarship purposes.
- Legal Protection: It prevents the use of fraudulent degrees, ensuring that your credentials are trustworthy.
How to Complete Your HEC Pakistan Degree Verification?
Since May 29, 2017, HEC Pakistan has implemented an updated and efficient Degree Attestation System (DAS). All applicants must apply for degree attestation online via the official HEC website. Here’s a breakdown of the process:
Step 1: Register and Create an Account on the HEC Portal
- Visit the HEC Portal: Go to the official HEC eServices website: https://eservices.hec.gov.pk.
- Create a New Account: Register by entering your personal details, including your name, CNIC, email, and contact number.
- Complete Your Profile: After registration, log in and complete your profile with the necessary information about your educational background.
Step 2: Submit Your Degree Details for Initial Scrutiny
- Fill Out the Application: After completing your profile, select the degree attestation option from your dashboard and fill in the required information such as the name of your degree, the university, graduation year, and degree number.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your degree, transcripts, CNIC, and any other required documents.
- Submit for Initial Scrutiny: Once your application is filled out, submit it for initial examination by HEC. The system will process your application and conduct a preliminary check for any inconsistencies or issues.
Step 3: Receive Confirmation and Schedule Your Appointment
- Initial Scrutiny Result: If your application passes the initial scrutiny, HEC will notify you via SMS and email. At this point, you can proceed to the next step.
- Scheduling the Appointment: You can choose between two options for submitting your documents:
- Walk-in Mode (Urgent): If you need your documents verified urgently, you can schedule an appointment for a
- same-day verification at HEC’s office. This option is available on a first-come, first-served basis and requires you to walk in with your documents.
Step 4: Pay the Attestation Fee
- Online Payment: Before submitting your application, you must pay the attestation fee. The fee can be paid online via 1-Link through the HEC portal. The current fee structure is:
- Rs. 1000 for each original document.
- Rs. 700 for each photocopy of a document.
- You can pay the fee using your credit card, debit card, or bank transfer. Once the payment is completed, verify the payment in your HEC profile to proceed.
Step 5: Submit Documents for Attestation
After your payment is verified, you will be able to download the application form from the portal. This form must be submitted with your original documents (matric onward) and photocopies, either in person or via courier, depending on the mode you selected.
- Walk-in Mode: Bring your original documents and photocopies to the HEC office on the scheduled date for same-day verification.
- Courier Service Mode: If you opted for the courier service, send your documents via the designated courier service. HEC will process your documents in first-come, first-served order and return them through the courier.
Step 6: Wait for Attestation Completion
Once your documents are submitted, HEC will process them. The attestation process typically takes between 7 to 10 business days for regular applications, and documents submitted under urgent walk-in mode will be returned on the same day.
You will be notified via SMS and email when your degree attestation is complete and your documents are ready for collection or will be sent back via courier.
Additional Services by HEC
- Sealed Envelope Service: If you need your attested documents sealed for agencies like WES or ICAS, HEC offers this service upon request. However, it is your responsibility to confirm the exact requirements with these agencies.
- Verification of Photocopies: Photocopies of your degrees and transcripts can only be attested if the original documents are already verified by HEC. However, you can apply for attestation of both the originals and their photocopies in a single application.
Common Issues and Solutions
- Incorrect Details: Ensure that all the details you enter (degree number, university, etc.) match exactly with the original documents to avoid any delays.
- Payment Problems: If the payment isn’t processed or you face issues with online payment, make sure to check with your bank or payment provider. You can also contact HEC support for assistance.
- Document Rejection: If any document is found to be fake or if the details are incomplete, your application may be rejected, and necessary action will be taken against fraudulent applicants as per HEC policies.
